A Cup of Coffee Helps the Missions

Saint Basil Coffee, Growing for the missions - helping the missions grow.Saint Basil Coffee Company distributed $25,000 to the Basilian Missions in Latin America in July, which represented the profit from the company’s sales from January to June of 2006. This amount is equal to the total for all of 2005. The company hopes to give another $25,000 before the end of the year. More and more churches and organizations are making the commitment to serve this premium, fair trade coffee at functions and events.

You can find out more about how coffee helps the missions by e-mail at sales@saintbasilcoffee.com, or by phone to: 281-397-2276 ; or Fax: 713-880-0779. If you’d like, we have some brochures about the coffee which we will be happy to mail to you – just ask.

A Note From Padre Juan:

Gratefully Remembered

In the month of November our thoughts turn to our loved ones who have passed to the wonderful life that the Father has prepared for all of his children. The Basilian Fathers of the Latin American Apostolate remember especially those of our community who have given the greatest part of their lives on earth to serving the poor. We remember among our founders Fr. Joseph Dillon and Fr. Thomas O’Rourke. In our lifetime we are still inspired by the memory of Fr. John Collins and Fr. Lee Higgins. With fondness we recall the work and devotion of Fr. Frank Launtrie, Fr. Max Murphy, and Fr. Donald Mooney. With awe and admiration we think of Frs. Isidro Castillo and Edward Zemelko who died so young and yet in their short lives accomplished so much. God has blessed the Basilian Community with the presence of these fine Priests over the years. Their memory inspires others to continue to give of themselves. The Basilian Priests presently involved in the Latin America Apostolate are resolved to continue in the tradition of those who have gone before us.

We also remember our benefactors who, over so many years, have supported us by their prayers and contributions and who are now enjoying the rewards of their thoughtfulness. This is a special time of the year to reflect upon our rich and grace filled history. And it is also a time to make plans for the future and to continue a beautiful tradition that is truly God’s work.

In the name of all the Priests of the Basilian Fathers Missions that labor in Latin America we thank you for your generous support. What we accomplish, great things or small, depends largely on you. The more generous you are with your prayers and contributions, the more we can accomplish. Let us pray for all those who have gone before us and continue what they have begun.

John R. Boscoe, C.S.B.
